By Amara

Amara (she/her) started to keep an art journal at the beginning of the pandemic in early 2020 to process the simultaneous feelings of both love and grief she experienced, as she moved from high school to college. Although she was raised by an artist, she never found the time to sit down and experiment with different mediums of art until lockdown. So, she began to send letters to her loved ones as they felt so out of reach. In everything she makes and everyone she loves, (her) queerness is intrinsic. Queerness is part of the everyday life because it’s within reach. As an identity and a modality, it is tender and constructed of the very ordinary desire for recognition through the other.
